Lower Key Stage 2 - Year 3/4
Our main unit of study this term continues to focus on the Romans and the effects of their invasion of Britain. We will continue to look at aspects of Roman life, including Roman homes, Celtic life, armour, pottery and Queen Boudicca’s Revolt! We have also arranged for Maidstone Museum to visit the school in order to carry out a series of learning workshops. The children will be able to look at Roman artefacts and try on suits of Roman armour!
During the final term our focus will change to incorporate learning about our local environment, allowing the children opportunity to visit local shops and leisure facilities in order for them to collect data and information which they can use to suggest ways in which our environment can be improved.
Science work this term is entitled ‘Micro-organisms’. The children will have plenty of opportunity to learn all about bacteria and germs and their effect on food and health. The children will also be studying habitats and this will be closely linked with their learning about the environment. We will also be incorporating visits to the school pond into the children's learning as this is an invaluable resource when looking at habitats and the environment.
