The Choir

At Dover Road, we are very proud to have a choir which welcomes children from across Key Stage Two, from Year 3 to Year 6.  We are overflowing with many musically talented children and this year we even had to hold some informal auditions!  We rehearse on Wednesdays after school and are currently working on one of our most important performances, which happens in the Summer Term, where we join together with other local schools to perform at the annual Gravesham Choral Festival at The Woodville Halls.

Of course, you might also see us laughing about some of the weird and wacky musical exercises that do all sorts of strange things such as increase our lung capacity, widen our range and help our aural skills!  Ask a Choir member and they will explain…

For those who aren’t able to join us in the Choir this year, there are still plenty of opportunities to showcase musical abilities in our Music Assemblies on Thursday mornings.  Here, anyone who wishes is invited to rehearse and present a performance to the juniors!  So far, we have had solos, duets and groups perform pop, rock, musical theatre, and a variety songs from different cultures and in several languages.  Our instrumentalists have given us cornet, piano, Indian drums, recorder, electric guitar and percussion!  Even some of the teachers have been known to take to the stage, much to the amusement of the children!
